Announcing PropertyAction, Betterview’s New Flagging System For Underwriters

At Betterview, we are dedicated to constantly improving our product, so that users like you can unlock the maximum value from our underwriting and property risk assessment tools. In this way, we are further pursuing our mission of empowering all insurance companies to deliver a smarter, safer, and more harmonious P&C insurance experience. With that in mind, we are proud to announce a new update to the Betterview Insurance Suite.

The newest addition to the Betterview Insurance Suite has arrived. Meet PropertyAction, our fully customizable flagging system. Spotlight issues on properties that need the most attention. Fast-track or straight-through-process the lowest risks.

Think about a property near a wildfire zone, you know that tree overhang or property debris is going to be particularly risky. With PropertyAction now added to the Betterview platform, it is easier than ever to flag properties with these dangerous fire hazards. Then you can alert your insured of the risk, giving them time to trim their trees or clean their yard. They get a better rate, you get a better loss ratio, and you both sleep better at night because you worked together to mitigate risk.

You can write custom business rules to flag properties, making it easier and more efficient to take action. At renewal, for example, you may want to send an inspector to buildings that have poor roofs. After all, roof issues drive 36% of total annual losses and can be a strong indicator of overall property condition. But it can be hard for underwriters to keep track of roof conditions for every property in their book. Many times, roofs haven’t been inspected since a policy was first written.

That’s why we created the Betterview Roof Spotlight Index, allowing you to instantly flag only the properties that fall below a certain threshold. This is a deeply rigorous and complex score, built on Computer Vision analysis of high-quality aerial imagery that takes into account over a dozen weighted condition attributes, resulting in a rating of every roof between 1 and 100. Looking at factors from ponding and staining to deeper structural damage, our RSI will tell underwriters AND the insured exactly what steps need to be taken to maximize their protection against risk and losses. In this way, better tools empower better results for all parties involved.

The flagging tool is a flexible and comprehensive way for underwriters to work more efficiently while still driving down expenses. Users can even pull in data from our fantastic third-party data providers like HazardHub for regional peril info, e2Value for home repair valuations, and many more. All of these conditions and more can be flagged with ease in an intuitive dashboard, so your entire book can be organized into a single, user-friendly screen.

Betterview is not just a provider of high-quality property insights; we are directly empowering underwriters to take more strategic, decisive actions. 86% of platform users report taking action after viewing our property profiles. One carrier saw a 20% decrease in roof-related losses after integrating Betterview, despite a 30% increase in wind events over the same time period.

Reduce losses and cut down expenses, all while building a stronger, more transparent relationship with your insured. Join the Betterview platform today, and transform your entire P&C policy lifecycle into one that is safer, smarter, and more harmonious for all parties involved.
